The CWB is a flat, flexible, and safe Li-ion battery that acts as a central power source for the dismount Soldier. The flat, flexible form factor increases ergonomic comfort, allowing the battery to placed almost anywhere on the Soldier’s ballistic vest. It’s interoperable on all Army-approved chargers, and the most common dismounted situational awareness equipment, like Nett Warrior (NW). A pouch is provided with the CWB to attach the battery to MOLLE webbing.
The current CWB is based on MIL-PRF-32383/4A. The CWB is managed by PEO Soldier PM SWAR.
There are multiple versions of the CWB:
- CWB version 3.6 and earlier: legacy battery
- CWB version 3.6.2: current CWB in production
- The next version will be CWB 3.7
The CWB output voltage varies between 10 and 20 VDC depending on the version and state of charge. It has two external ports: the Nett Warrior connector (NATO STANAG 4695 compliant) and the bottom contacts. The pin-out is compliant with Nett Warrior personal area network architecture for power. Version 3.6.2 and newer also have a USB Type A port to charge portable electronics.
